The latest model can stream music from Airplay 2, before you had to use Bluetooth. The design is slim and neat you can put it everywhere almost. The wireless WiFi card is not top notch. So if your router is downstairs I suggest using LAN. But I recommend it! StefanBFC said:. It's a difficult one, I'm surprised though, generally the Marantz sounds OK for music.

Which Marantz do you own? I'm guessing then you're using the RCA to connect it? My setup is as per my signature That said, in your system, I wold expect the difference to be more pronounced Sorry couldn't see it on my phone. If I use the Bluos controller to play Tidal, I'm guessing this is the best way, rather than using Tidal straight from the app? TB Rich Active Member. Anyone using an external DAC with their 2i and found it offers an appreciable upgrade?

I'm assuming would need to be something along the lines of a Chord Qutest before the difference is worthwhile? I use Rega Dac R with my Node2i. The Node2i sounds very good. But I like the Rega sound better.Already have an account? Use your Sonos login details to log in to your account, or register one to engage with the community.

If you want good sounding speakers around the house, go with Sonos. Added a Bluesound Pulse speaker a few months later in the bedroom.

I visiting a small hotel for my anniversary and they had a Sonos Play 5 setup in their dining area and it sounded wonderful, much better than the Bluesound Pulse I had at home. The Bluesound Pulse speaker has never sounded great.

Sounds seem muffled and less detailed. Bass was there but the midrange and treble was lacking. The tone controls offered seem to make things even worse. I listened to music through the Connect and KEF speakers for at least 2hrs.Award in But for those who prefer to cherry-pick the best products and building a hi-fi system from the best multiple manufacturers have to offer, the Node 2 still needs to impress.

Ultimately, with a price increase and over two year's-worth of rival products that have arrived to take it on, does this streamer still manage top-notch performance? The Node 2 is, as the name suggests, an upgrade to the original Node - the most obvious change being the design.

There has been a big departure from the previously striking, but rather plasticky look, and it is replaced by something altogether more understated and rack-friendly. No longer a shiny cube, the Node 2 is now a slim, flat box with a matte finish; a little shorter, and about double the thickness, of a MacBook Air.

I'm thinking about purchasing a Bluesound Vault 2i to use with my Gungnir Multibit, probably using the spdif coax output. Does anyone have much experience using the Bluesound with an external DAC? These kinds of things were much easier back when bits were bits.

The main thing is I want something with good, mature software that I don't have to pay extra for. It seems to me that Bluesound should be pretty far down the software development path by now. And I'm leaning towards the Vault because I like the idea of easily ripping a new CD without having to pull out my computer, rip, then transfer to where the files belong. Seems like a pretty nice setup to me - but I'm interested in your thoughts too.

ChuckyBuckNov 8, Location: Brooklyn nyc. Love my Node2. Output to Schiit Bifrost multibit. Sounds great, especially with Tidal.

Audio Sensibility digital coax. I have used a Node2 for about a year and I like it I usually rotate 16 GB thumb drives with what I am in the mood to listen to. It got even better when installing vintage tubes.

Bluesound's customer service has always been responsive when I had a question I would not hesitate to purchase from the company again. EzdNov 9, ChuckyBuck likes this. I use my Node2 with my Gumby. Noticed an immediate positive upgrade to the sound. I do not know how the Node2i compares as it is the newer model and is supposed to be an upgrade.

Pros : Excellent sound Compact size Decent build. A couple of years ago I purchased a Schiit Magni 2 Uber that I didn't really like and to top it off, I had a bad experience with customer service that just put me off Schiit all together. Fast forward a couple of years later, I purchased a Chromecast audio device that sounded decent, but not great.

Now that I had these two devices, I felt they both would benefit from a new external DAC and the Schiit Modi Multibit seemed like the best value out there. I'm not disappointed with this purchase at all. For the price, I'd say the sound is very good and definitely helps my Chromecast audio and Sony CD player sound a whole lot better.

When compared to my Bluesound Node 2 streamer, the Schiit is quite comparable and seems to offer slightly better bass. My only qualm is with the input selector which just seems really fiddly and doesn't work too well. This sounds fantastic.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Bluesound Node 2i vs Node 2

Am I thinking about it the wrong way? Thanks for any thoughts. One final note: Strangely, I get a more satisfying be it very different experience going directly from the MacBook into some AudioEngine A2s.

Not sure why that is. You are right For the money this will be tough to beat. If you don't like it, Needledoctor has a 30 day return policy. If it is better than your Marantz, you can even attach the Marantz to it. It isn't the best DAC in the world.

The Needledoctor is a solid product and for the price, you can't beat it. At the end, its all about how much you want to spend.

Both setups do the job in my opinion. Thanks so much guys! Only thing I am going to try first is going from headphone jack to AV unit via Toslink instead of RCA, to see if that changes anything - did not realize that was possible until yesterday when I found out it sends that type of signal. There are some people online claiming the Mac DAC is great in the first place.

I am thinking maybe they are not as much audiophiles as average people who find it surpasses their expectations, and I do think it's pretty good sounding when you put it in perspective. But does not match that Marantz. At all. This site uses cookies to provide you with the best possible experience. To learn more please view our Privacy Policy.
